BACKUP WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

Utility Partners operates, maintains, and repairs water and wastewater treatment plants, distribution equipment and other water utilities for municipal customers. It currently employs 376 employees for the operation of forty-four (44) utilities in nine (9) US states, mainly on the US Gulf coast, Southeast, New England and the West Coast.                                                                                                                                                           

DESCRIPTION

Utility Partners is looking for a Backup Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the Newburyport MA area.

SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for a variety of duties related to the operation of a Grade IV wastewater treatment plant on weekends and holidays.  This position also includes coverage of the plant during Plant Manager vacations and travel away from the plant.  Ability to work alone is a must.  The ability to respond to plant alarms, both remotely and on site, during back up duty is also required.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts routine testing of wastewater as directed, records test results and maintains the plant log book with accurate and timely entries of activities.
  • Adjusts plant processes as required to comply with effluent quality requirements established for the plant.
  • Monitors Plant SCADA system and records relevant data.
  • Performs other operation and maintenance duties as directed by Plant Manager.
  • On-call availability within a 20 minute response time and weekend/holiday duty is required for this position.
  • Responds to plant alarms remotely using smart phone app technology and/or on site when Plant Manager is unavailable. Makes appropriate changes to plant equipment operation to resolve alarm condition.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum required is high school diploma or equivalent
  • MA Wastewater Grade III or Higher License
  • Some technical or mechanical work experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good physical capacities1
